CO2 Welder

About the role

Monitor Distributors, the manufacturers and distributors of Hawk high‑pressure pumps, are seeking an experienced CO2 Welder to join their team at the Umbilo head office in Durban. The role focuses on high‑quality welding and fabrication using CO2/MIG processes, ensuring all welded components meet strict quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical drawings to plan welding tasks.
• Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, bevelling and cleaning joint surfaces.
• Perform MIG/CO2 welding on mild steel, stainless steel and other metals according to procedure specifications.
• Visually inspect welds for defects such as porosity, undercut, cracks and repair as needed.
• Maintain welding equipment, perform routine safety checks and store consumables properly.
• Coordinate with the welding team to ensure project specifications and welding codes are met before sign‑off.

Required profile

• Matric qualification.
• CO2 welding certification.
• At least 5 years of practical welding experience, preferably with MIG welding torches.
• Trade certificate in welding is advantageous.
