Clinical Training Specialist – Critical Care

About the role

The Clinical Training Specialist – Critical Care will join the Pretoria Learning Centre to develop competent nurses for Life Healthcare Group and external providers. Reporting to the Regional Education Manager, the specialist will lead both postgraduate and short‑course programmes, ensuring alignment with curriculum and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support recruitment and selection of nursing students.
• Plan, coordinate and implement work‑integrated learning for postgraduate diploma programmes.
• Design and deliver short learning programmes in critical care.
• Assess practical skills of students to meet curriculum requirements.
• Facilitate professional socialisation from induction through completion.
• Participate in institutional research activities.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders for effective learning placements.
• Contribute to programme reviews, curriculum and policy development.
• Maintain accurate programme and student records in line with quality‑assurance standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in nursing with a postgraduate qualification in Nursing Education.
• Postgraduate clinical specialisation in Critical Care Nursing.
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council, including assessor/moderator credentials.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Experience teaching nursing theory or clinical practice at undergraduate or postgraduate level, preferably >2 years.
• Familiarity with the private healthcare sector and online learning facilitation.
• Proficiency with MS Office and learning management systems.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel as required.
