Clinical Researcher – Strategic Risk Management

About the role

Discovery Health is seeking a Clinical Researcher to join its Strategic Risk Management (SRM) team. The role focuses on applying Evidence‑Based Medicine principles to develop, update and maintain clinical funding policies, protocols and baskets of care, while providing expert support to internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement and monitor new coverage decisions, clinical policies, protocols, baskets of care and formularies.
• Review and update existing clinical policies and related documentation.
• Identify emerging clinical conditions, technologies and interventions that require policy support.
• Provide guidance on new medicines, tests, technologies and legislative changes.
• Maintain clinical content on internal platforms (e.g., DNA) and respond to policy queries.
• Collaborate with internal business units, negotiate and communicate policy decisions.
• Undertake specific projects delegated by management.

Required profile

• Strong clinical background with solid knowledge of medical schemes legislation.
• Experience in clinical policy development and risk management.
• Ability to interpret and apply Evidence‑Based Medicine principles.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
