Clinical Preceptor – Speech-Language Pathology

About the role

The Faculty of Health Sciences seeks a Clinical Preceptor to support the Speech‑Language Pathology programme at the East London Campus. You will guide students through their clinical training, ensuring they meet professional standards while contributing to the department’s academic and research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform administrative duties for the clinical training programme and departmental activities.
• Supervise students in clinical settings to ensure required clinical hours are achieved in line with HPCSA guidelines.
• Deliver extra tutorials, case‑based seminars, and discussion sessions, providing constructive feedback to students and lecturers.
• Assess student performance across all clinical areas.
• Co‑supervise undergraduate research projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology.
• Valid registration as a Speech‑Language Therapist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Minimum two years of post‑community‑service clinical practice in speech‑language therapy.
• Experience in clinical and research supervision is an advantage.
• Valid driver’s licence is an advantage.
