Clinical Pharmacist

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to lead patient‑oriented pharmaceutical care within its hospital setting. The role focuses on ensuring the safe, effective, and appropriate use of medicines, with a particular emphasis on antimicrobial stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to in‑patient wards.
• Design, launch and maintain an Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme to optimise antimicrobial use.
• Provide data‑driven insights on medication utilisation, trends and strategies to hospital leadership.
• Identify, mitigate and support the management of pharmaceutical risks across the facility.
• Oversee accurate dispensing processes where applicable.

Required profile

• Essential education: MPharm or a postgraduate degree in Clinical Pharmacy.
• Desired education: Antimicrobial Stewardship or Infection Prevention and Control courses.
• Essential experience: 2‑3 years as a Clinical or Ward Pharmacist.
• Desired experience: Proven experience managing an Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme.

Required skills

• Proficiency with pharmacy information systems such as UNISOLV and AS400.
• Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Office suite.
