Client Accountant / Drafter

About the role

Our client, an established accounting firm, is looking for a technically strong Client Accountant / Drafter to join their team in Cape Town. The role involves preparing annual financial statements, supporting client accounting projects and delivering tax and accounting assistance to a diverse portfolio of clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review annual financial statements and related working papers for larger clients.
• Assist with a variety of client accounting projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Perform tax computations, lodge income tax returns and handle SARS and CIPC queries.
• Provide day‑to‑day accounting and tax support to assigned client portfolios.
• Maintain client records using appropriate accounting software and documentation standards.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of relevant accounting experience.
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting.
• Proven experience preparing annual financial statements for larger clients.
• Experience with tax computations, income tax returns and regulatory queries.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Pastel Partner, Sage One and Xero.
• Experience with SARS eFiling and CIPC processes.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Familiarity with Caseware (preferred).
