Civils Legal Professional – Permanent, Hybrid

About the role

We are looking for a driven Civils Legal Professional to join our Pretoria office on a permanent basis. The role focuses on delivering accessible legal advice to policy holders, handling civil matters and resolving disputes through mediation and negotiation before litigation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional legal advice to policy holders and explain policy provisions.
• Conduct consultations in person, by phone and in writing.
• Take comprehensive legal instructions, assess merits of civil matters and determine eligibility for litigation cover.
• Draft legal correspondence, warning letters, settlement agreements, representations and wills.
• Manage family law, estate and general civil legal matters.
• Mediate and negotiate disputes to achieve amicable resolutions.
• Prepare written and verbal legal opinions and maintain regular client communication.
• Conduct legal research, apply current legislation and ensure compliance with internal policies.
• Maintain accurate file administration, diary management and legal records.

Required profile

• LLB degree; admission as an Attorney or Advocate is advantageous.
• Minimum two years post‑articles experience in civil law across multiple practice areas.
• Ability to speak, read and write at least two official African languages.
• High integrity, professionalism and accountability.
• Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal abilities.
