Civil Engineering Technician – Cape Town

About the role

Our client in the civil engineering sector is seeking a Technician (Civil Engineer) to join their Civil Engineering Department in Cape Town. The position blends technical site supervision with project management, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage project plans, budgets, and timelines.
• Monitor progress and implement corrective actions when required.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to align on goals and deliverables.
• Prepare and maintain site records, progress reports, and cost tracking documentation.
• Supervise on‑site construction, ensuring design and safety compliance.
• Conduct conditional assessments and provide input on repairs, upgrades, and new works.
• Oversee bulk earthworks, sewage pipe laying, structural brickwork, and concrete works.
• Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures and material testing.
• Issue site instructions and ensure contractor adherence to specifications.
• Calculate quantities and manage procurement of materials.

Required profile

• Experience managing civil engineering projects from planning to execution.
• Proven ability to supervise on‑site construction activities.
• Strong coordination skills with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
