Civil Engineer – Pavements (Cape Town)

About the role

WSP is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer with a strong focus on pavement engineering to join its Transport & Infrastructure team in Cape Town. The role involves delivering road and highway projects through investigations, design, construction support and client interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pavement investigations, condition assessments and surveys.
• Develop pavement designs, engineering calculations, working drawings and cost estimates.
• Provide technical input for pavement rehabilitation, surfacing selection and layer design.
• Review design reports, specifications, contractor documentation and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Perform construction supervision and contract administration for civil and pavement works.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery.
• Assist in preparing proposals, tenders, budgets and resource estimates for new opportunities.
• Mentor junior team members and share technical knowledge.

Required profile

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on pavements, roads or materials engineering.
• Proven experience on large road infrastructure projects.
