Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Permanent Position

About the role

The municipality seeks a senior finance leader to oversee all financial functions and provide strategic advice to Council and the Accounting Officer. This permanent CFO position will ensure sound financial governance and compliance with relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic financial planning and budgeting aligned to the Integrated Development Plan.
• Oversight of budgeting, accounting, reporting, cash flow, debt, assets and supply chain management.
• Ensuring compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act and other applicable legislation.
• Providing strategic financial advice to Council and the Accounting Officer.
• Maintaining robust financial governance and reporting to all spheres of government.

Required profile

• NQF Level 7 qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent.
• Minimum five years’ experience at middle‑management level in financial management, preferably within local government.
• Valid Code 08 (EB) driver’s licence; registration with SAICA or a similar professional body is an advantage.
• Must meet municipal CFO competency requirements (SAQA ID 48965) within 18 months if not already qualified.

Required skills

• Advanced computer literacy.
• Proven experience managing financial accounting systems.

What we offer

• Total annual remuneration package ranging from R1,291,138 to R1,419,621.
• Remote allowance of up to 7% may be payable.
• Performance management contract upon appointment.
