Chief Executive Officer – Strategic Leader

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic leadership to the Eastern Cape Parks & Tourism Agency (ECPTA) and ensure the implementation of Board decisions in line with the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Act. This senior role oversees eco‑tourism operations, biodiversity management and the agency’s overall performance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic plan for ECPTA, aligning all functional areas with the agency’s vision.
• Lead and monitor the implementation of strategic initiatives, reporting progress and taking corrective actions as needed.
• Establish and maintain strategic relationships with local, provincial, national and international stakeholders.
• Oversee financial management, budgeting, resource allocation and compliance with PFMA regulations.
• Drive organisational performance through risk management, performance frameworks and talent development.

Required profile

• Matric certificate and a valid driver’s licence.
• Post‑graduate qualification (NQF Level 8) – preferably a Master’s, MBA or MBL (NQF Level 9).
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience, including at least 5 years in senior/executive management.
• Extensive experience in eco‑tourism operations or biodiversity management within a commercial or green‑economy context.
