Chemical Sales Executive

About the role

Our client, South Africa's largest paper merchant, is expanding its chemical portfolio and seeks a Chemical Sales Executive for its Durban branch. The role focuses on driving growth within the agricultural and food sectors by leveraging existing relationships and generating new business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and grow sales in the agricultural and food industries.
• Manage and expand an existing customer portfolio while identifying new opportunities.
• Promote and sell the company's range of chemical products and solutions.
• Conduct regular customer visits to assess needs and provide product recommendations.
• Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing, and close sales.
• Maintain long‑term relationships through technical support and excellent service.
• Achieve monthly and quarterly sales targets.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth order processing and customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of external sales experience in the chemical industry.
• Proven track record selling chemical products to the agricultural and/or food sectors.
• Established customer base within these industries.
• Strong technical understanding of chemical products and their applications.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation abilities.
• Self‑motivated, results‑driven and able to work independently.
• Valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and no restraint of trade.
