CES Technician

About the role

The CES Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing gas‑related equipment at Afrox’s Cape Town facility. You will ensure safe operation, minimise production downtime, and support the team’s SHEQ initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and corrective maintenance on compressors, pumps, high‑pressure systems and related equipment.
• Monitor equipment condition and complete job cards and work orders in the maintenance system.
• Provide timely breakdown response, troubleshoot faults and coordinate required resources.
• Maintain an inventory of critical spares and ensure compliance with legal and production standards.
• Report daily progress to the CES Coordinator and support SHEQ activities.

Required profile

• Matric (or N3 equivalent) with an artisan qualification.
• Minimum 5 years experience in preventative, condition‑monitoring and breakdown maintenance of compressed gases, high‑pressure systems, pumps or compressors.
• Knowledge of welding, easy‑flow systems and electrical work in flammable environments.
• Ability to read P&ID drawings, conduct fault finding, testing and repairs on gas installations.
• Valid Industrial SAQCC or Industrial LPG licence.
