Category/Product Manager

About the role

Responsible for all aspects of category and product management, from identifying products with suppliers to sourcing, launching them to market and ensuring profitability and ROI. The primary focus will be on cleaning chemicals, equipment and paper products.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve and exceed targeted turnover and forecast unit sales.
• Work closely with Regional GMs to align product market fit.
• Launch new products and increase the sales ratio of new items.
• Monitor contract price lists and maintain margins in line with company policy.
• Analyze markets to identify threats and opportunities.
• Conduct profitability analysis and recommend SKU additions or rationalisation.
• Negotiate with suppliers and build strong relationships.
• Build relationships with top customers and adhere to call cycles.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Tertiary qualification or relevant marketing degree/diploma.
• Three to five years’ experience in a similar role within cleaning chemicals, equipment and paper products.
• Willingness to travel and possession of a reliable vehicle.
• Reasonable knowledge of all products.
• Computer literacy with proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook.
