Category Buyer – Marketing (Durban)

About the role

The Category Buyer – Marketing will lead the deployment of global and regional category strategies for marketing‑related spend, ensuring alignment with business objectives and procurement standards. Based in Durban, the role works closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to drive value, compliance and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct market research and support global/regional category managers in defining and implementing category strategies.
• Lead supplier selection, negotiation and contracting for marketing categories, managing price, total cost of ownership, payment terms and quality.
• Oversee contract management, coordinating with legal and ensuring appropriate templates and documentation.
• Monitor spend performance, capture savings and report key procurement KPIs.
• Maintain master data quality, drive process standardisation, automation and e‑catalogue management.
• Manage supplier relationships, assess financial health, mitigate supply risks and foster innovative solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in indirect procurement, preferably within the marketing function.
• Strong understanding of procurement standards, legal requirements and category management processes.
• Proven ability to work autonomously, influence stakeholders and deliver measurable cost savings.
