Casual Merchandiser – Mahikeng

About the role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a casual merchandiser for its Mahikeng store. You will make sure that basic Dis-Chem merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained, while also providing excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Restock merchandise as needed to ensure maximum sales
• Store and pack delivered stock and stock pulled from the storeroom in the correct space on time
• Check that shelf stock has not passed its sell-by date and that the full range of products is always on the shelves
• Rotate stock regularly on a FIFO basis and report low stock, out-of-stock, damaged and expired items to management
• Help with stock counts and stocktaking, and keep shelves neat, labelled and priced correctly
• Build, face up, stock and maintain merchandising displays, and keep your own stock in the storeroom and on the shop floor tidy
• Load and unload stock, mark items without barcodes, and help with back shopping
• Train new staff, follow up out-of-stock queries with the customer service out-of-stock list, and resolve customer stock queries
• Wear the correct uniform and badge, handle merchandise carefully to minimise loss, and follow Dis-Chem policies, SOPs and health and safety rules

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Up to 6 months of retail experience; at least 1 year is advantageous
• Willing and able to work retail hours, and able to lift and move heavy boxes
• Reliable transport or living close to the store, South African citizenship, clear credit and criminal records
• Strong command of English; bilingualism is advantageous

Required skills

• Computer literacy, including MS Office
• Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stock taking (advantageous)
• Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry (advantageous)
