About the role
Manage cartage operations to ensure safe, efficient performance while auditing costs, coordinating repairs and driving productivity and profitability.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily cartage activities and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Audit operational costs and implement measures to improve profitability.
- Coordinate vehicle and trailer repairs, maintenance and address mechanical faults.
- Plan routes, calculate trip costs and monitor fuel efficiency.
Required profile
- Proven experience in fleet or cartage control with leadership capability.
- Strong computer literacy and practical Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, own ownership and manage multiple operational priorities.
Required skills
- Navis system experience.
- Practical knowledge of Durban port operations.
- Use of ERP, vehicle tracking, camera and fuel management systems.
- Understanding of transport rates, route planning and trip costing.
