Carrier Sales Representative

About the role

RXO is seeking a Carrier Sales Representative to join its Chicago office. In this position you will source, negotiate, and secure carriers to move freight efficiently across North America while supporting both regular and peak‑season operations.

Key responsibilities

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with core carriers, negotiating rates and capacity.
• Communicate continuously with carriers and customers to ensure smooth freight movement and address any issues.
• Schedule pickups and deliveries, considering weather, traffic, mileage and service requirements.
• Follow established procedures for HVS and HRC loads to protect shipment integrity and the RXO brand.
• Maintain accurate data in company operating systems and conduct research for new carrier leads.
• Make cold‑calls to prospects and track back‑end billing to verify carrier charges.
• Participate in the seasonal Peak Project, providing 24/7 support for local or expedite accounts.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of sales experience.
• At least 1 year of transportation experience.
• 2 years of sales or customer‑service experience.
• Ability to exercise judgment and work independently within authorized limits.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work/military experience is a plus.

What we offer

• Base salary of $45,000 per year, with eligibility for bonus or commission.
• Peak Project completion bonus up to $3,000.
