Canteen Operator

About the role

We are looking for a reliable, hands‑on Canteen Operator to manage the day‑to‑day operations of our canteen in the Southern Suburbs, Tokai. You will be responsible for preparing and serving food, handling customer transactions, and supporting overall efficiency while delivering a friendly experience to staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food and beverages in line with hygiene and quality standards.
• Open, close and set up/pack‑down the canteen each day.
• Process cash and card transactions accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, serving areas and storage.
• Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering and receiving supplies.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health and hygiene regulations.
• Support menu planning and suggest new or improved offerings.
• Manage daily inventory and help reduce food waste.
• Provide friendly, efficient customer service.
• Report maintenance issues, stock shortages or operational concerns to management.
• Assist with ad‑hoc operational tasks to keep the canteen running smoothly.
