CAMS Card Developer (Cobol Engineer)

About the role

Absa Bank Limited is seeking an experienced Cobol Engineer to join the CAMS (Credit Card and Merchant System) development team. You will work on the Hogan Umbrella platform, delivering high‑performance, scalable applications that support the bank's credit‑card and merchant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain new functionality for the CAMS application.
• Produce well‑organized, optimized, and documented source code.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from analysis to deployment.
• Handle business requests and resolve technical issues quickly.
• Provide standby support as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Cobol programmer.
• At least 5 years of experience with JCL and the Hogan Umbrella environment.
• Proven experience in credit‑card and merchant processing systems.
• Banking industry experience is essential.
