About the role
A full-time Buyer position in the automotive industry, based in Port Elizabeth (PE/Gqeberha). The role covers sourcing components, negotiating with suppliers and managing supplier readiness, with salary commensurate with qualification and experience.
Key responsibilities
- Source components and manage RFQs, quotations and negotiations
- Drive cost reduction and benchmark pricing
- Present sourcing decisions to committees
- Manage supplier readiness, capacity and tooling
- Implement engineering changes on time
- Support production, quality and logistics issues
Required profile
- Degree or diploma in Purchasing, Logistics, Commerce, Finance, Business Management or a technical qualification (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Quality, Operations or Production Management)
- At least 3 years of purchasing experience in the automotive or supplier industry
- Experience with production components and electrical harnesses is an added advantage
Required skills
- Negotiation, problem-solving and conflict management
- Communication and presentation skills at all levels
- Advanced computer literacy, especially MS Excel
- Understanding of financial analysis, costing and business/project management
- Strong customer interaction skills
