About the role
PayGenius is seeking a mid‑level Business Development Specialist to drive new merchant acquisition for its payment solutions in the travel and tourism sector across Africa. The role is fully remote, reporting to the sales leadership team, and focuses on outbound prospecting, pipeline building and closing deals with merchants in e‑commerce, hospitality, retail and related high‑growth industries.
Key responsibilities
- Generate new business opportunities through cold calling, email outreach, LinkedIn, partnerships and events.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline by prospecting, networking and lead generation.
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact to closing and onboarding of merchants.
- Develop deep knowledge of PayGenius payment products and communicate value propositions to prospects.
- Identify emerging market trends and new opportunities within the travel, tourism and e‑commerce sectors.
- Maintain accurate activity and pipeline reporting in the CRM system.
- Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets.
- Provide market feedback and customer insights to inform product and commercial strategy.
Required profile
- 2–3 years of experience in business development, B2B sales, fintech, payments or SaaS.
- Proven track record of hunting, prospecting and closing new business.
- Strong communication, presentation and negotiation abilities.
- Self‑motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with a goal‑oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
- Fluent English proficiency.
