Business Development Specialist – French Speaking (Johannesburg)

About the role

Western Union is seeking a French‑speaking Business Development Specialist to drive growth across East Africa and its Indian Ocean markets while based in Johannesburg. You will expand our retail and digital footprint, forge strategic partnerships and deliver superior customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Drive revenue growth by maximizing performance of existing retail agent networks.
• Identify and execute opportunities to expand Western Union’s retail presence and digital offerings across the region.
• Analyse market trends, customer behaviour and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions.
• Develop and implement pricing strategies that enhance competitiveness.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including agents and strategic partners.
• Collaborate with marketing, operations and compliance teams to ensure operational excellence.
• Identify new business opportunities and strategic partnerships for long‑term growth.
• Support the delivery of innovative customer solutions that boost engagement and loyalty.

Required profile

• Fluent in French and English with the ability to build relationships across multiple markets.
• Proven track record of driving business growth, revenue expansion or market development.
• Experience managing commercial partnerships, agent networks or customer‑facing business relationships.
• Strong commercial mindset with the ability to turn opportunities into results.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment where initiative and ownership are valued.
