Business Development Officer

About the role

The South African Institute for Entrepreneurship (SAIE) is looking for a dynamic Business Development Officer to join its Cape Town office. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, supporting fundraising activities and developing high‑quality proposals.

Key responsibilities

• Research and identify funding and partnership opportunities across South Africa.
• Prepare and submit compelling proposals and grant applications.
• Build and maintain relationships with corporate donors, government bodies and impact investors.
• Support business development initiatives and contribute to the growth of SAIE’s portfolio.
• Travel across the Western Cape and nationally as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, Development Studies, Entrepreneurship or a related field.
• 2‑5 years of experience in business development, fundraising, sales, partnerships or proposal writing.
• Excellent communication, networking and presentation abilities.
• Strong organisational skills, ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Social Media platforms.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (preferred).
