Business Development Manager – Government

About the role

An ICT distribution organisation is looking for a Business Development Manager to drive the Government portfolio strategy. You will identify new opportunities, build strategic partnerships and help meet revenue and profit targets while acting as a technology thought‑leader.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with defined vendors and government customers.
• Establish internal and external networks to ensure sales success and positive customer experience.
• Liaise with vendors and customers to uncover new business opportunities and provide weekly sales forecasts.
• Collaborate with product teams on stock levels and market insights.
• Assist in creating and presenting business cases to senior executives and technical partners.
• Participate in tender evaluations, solution recommendations and pricing.
• Deliver vendor presentations and training to sales teams and customers.

Required profile

• Matric certificate; tertiary qualification advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years business development management experience in the IT industry.
• At least 8 years sales experience, preferably within IT.
• Strong negotiation, time‑management and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, networking and presentation abilities.
