Business Developer – Skills Programs

About the role

We are seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to generate new revenue in the B‑BBEE and Skills Development space. You will sell a portfolio of solutions including YES programmes, learnerships, skills programmes and related B‑BBEE offerings, building relationships with senior corporate stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities within B‑BBEE, Employment Equity and Skills Development, focusing on YES and Skills programmes.
• Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline from lead generation to close, using a consultative approach.
• Engage HR, Transformation, Finance, Procurement and EXCO decision‑makers, assess client requirements and design tailored solutions.
• Prepare and present proposals, pricing and business cases that articulate ROI, compliance impact and delivery timelines.
• Manage the end‑to‑end sales process, including prospecting, discovery, solution design, negotiation, contracting and hand‑over to delivery teams.
• Maintain accurate CRM updates, forecasts and activity reporting.
• Partner with delivery and compliance teams to ensure feasible, well‑scoped solutions.
• Represent the company at events and networking sessions to generate leads and strengthen market presence.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in business development, sales or key account management.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
• Experience in B‑BBEE, Skills Development, training, HR or consulting sales is advantageous.
• Strong presentation, proposal writing and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to engage senior decision‑makers and travel to client sites (own vehicle required).
