Building Chargehand

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Building Chargehand to lead daily building and plumbing maintenance activities at our Dalton site. The role involves coordinating repairs, renovations and infrastructure projects while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily building and plumbing maintenance tasks.
• Supervise maintenance staff, contractors and service providers.
• Plan and execute building repairs, renovations, plumbing installations and infrastructure improvements.
• Inspect buildings, roofs, drainage systems, fencing and other facilities to identify maintenance needs.
• Ensure work is completed safely, on time and to required quality standards.
• Assist with budget control, overtime management and efficient use of resources.
• Promote preventative maintenance to improve reliability of equipment and infrastructure.
• Maintain compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively with production departments and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• Recognised trade qualification, apprenticeship or trade test in building, plumbing or related maintenance (advantageous).
• Minimum five years’ practical experience in building, plumbing or maintenance environments.
• Supervisory experience with ability to lead, coach and motivate a team.
• Valid driver’s licence.
