Bridge Engineer – Design and Inspection

About the role

AECOM South Africa is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join its Enterprise Capabilities team. You will work on a variety of local and international bridge, culvert, and rail‑structure projects, applying global standards and AECOM’s quality management system.

Key responsibilities

• Design new bridges, culverts, and related road/rail structures in line with TMH7 and other applicable codes.
• Develop rehabilitation and upgrade designs for existing bridges and drainage assets.
• Prepare construction drawings, project specifications, and contract documentation.
• Conduct inspections of bridges and culverts according to TMH19.
• Produce design reports and ensure compliance with AECOM’s QMS.

Required profile

• Minimum four years of relevant experience, including site work.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate results.
• Strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with structural design software such as Midas, Sofistik, RM Bridge, and CSiBridge.
