Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant

About the role

Our client, a well‑established manufacturing and industrial company, is looking for a Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant to join the finance team in Durban. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month‑end and year‑end processes, and handling accounting for non‑trading entities such as the Shared Services company.

Key responsibilities

• Process day‑to‑day financial transactions and journal entries.
• Maintain the general ledger and perform account and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
• Monitor cash flow, support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Prepare VAT submissions and other statutory returns.
• Produce management reports as required.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Required profile

• BCom degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organisational abilities.
• Professional, ethical and trustworthy with a positive attitude.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
