Bookkeeper / Debtors & Creditors Clerk

About the role

Halfway Geely Kokstad is looking for a detail-oriented and organised Bookkeeper / Debtors & Creditors Clerk to join its dealership. The role covers keeping accurate financial records, managing debtor and creditor accounts, processing transactions and making sure financial records are up to date and correctly reconciled.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate debtors and creditors records
• Prepare customer invoices, supplier invoices and credit notes
• Allocate and reconcile customer and supplier payments
• Follow up on outstanding customer accounts and overdue payments
• Process supplier payments and check that invoices are supported by the right documentation
• Reconcile bank, supplier and customer accounts
• Record financial transactions accurately in the accounting system
• Assist with monthly financial reports and account schedules, and help with month-end procedures
• Keep financial records and supporting documents organised, resolve account queries and keep financial information confidential

Required profile

• Grade 12 with Accounting or Mathematics, plus a bookkeeping or accounting qualification
• Valid driver's licence
• Previous bookkeeping, debtors and creditors experience; motor dealership experience is an advantage
• Ability to work under pressure and good computer skills

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Good numerical, reconciliation and data-capturing skills
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures
