Bookkeeper – Construction & Engineering (Cape Town)

About the role

We are seeking a meticulous Bookkeeper to join our Blackheath Industria team in Cape Town. The company manufactures rib and block precast decking solutions and requires accurate financial processing to support its construction and engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Record all supplier and customer transactions using Pastel, Sage or Xero.
• Process journals, maintain the general ledger and ensure timely bank reconciliations.
• Manage creditors and debtors: capture invoices, reconcile statements, prepare payment schedules and generate invoices from approved quotations.
• Conduct credit vetting, maintain credit files and produce monthly credit control reports.
• Support outsourced payroll by verifying timesheets, calculating commissions and submitting payroll inputs.
• Oversee stock take, inventory control and ensure proper documentation for all financial entries.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in bookkeeping, accounting or financial administration.
• Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction, engineering or architecture.
• Proficiency in Pastel, Sage or Xero and strong Excel skills (intermediate to advanced).
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Afrikaans.
• Detail‑oriented with a proactive approach to task completion.
• Own vehicle and a valid driver’s licence.
