Bed Bookings Clerk

About the role

Life Healthcare Group is seeking a Bed Bookings Clerk for its Fourways Hospital in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Admissions Supervisor, the role supports the Admissions Department by allocating beds, managing theatre bookings and ensuring compliance with hospital protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate beds for theatre cases and bookings from doctors’ rooms, and follow up on allocations.
• Record all pre‑admissions accurately and manage cash in line with company cash‑management protocols.
• Drive utilisation of the online theatre booking platform and mitigate potential bad debts through co‑payment collection and prosthetic limits.
• Provide courteous service to patients, visitors, wards, doctors and colleagues, and answer telephone enquiries according to LHC policies.
• Relieve the Admissions Department as needed, working flexible hours including nights, weekends and public holidays.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Experience in a healthcare environment with customer‑service exposure.
• Understanding of admissions procedures and basic financial principles.
• Ability to work under pressure, self‑manage workload and collaborate in a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts and overtime.
