Bar Commis – Guest Service Support

About the role

The Bar Commis supports the Guest Service team at The Excelsior Florence, ensuring that food‑and‑beverage operations run smoothly and that every guest enjoys a memorable experience. This entry‑level position involves a mix of front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house tasks, from setting tables to assisting the kitchen and maintaining a clean work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and clear tables, ensuring a tidy and welcoming dining area.
• Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation and replenishment of supplies.
• Clean work areas, bar stations, and equipment throughout the shift.
• Restock bar inventory, glassware, and service items as needed.
• Handle guest requests promptly and courteously, supporting a seamless service flow.
• Move, lift, and carry objects up to 25 lb unassisted and up to 50 lb with assistance.
• Maintain safety standards by working on varied surfaces and adhering to company policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• No prior work experience required; experience in a food‑and‑beverage environment is a plus.
• No supervisory experience needed.
• Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and perform physical tasks safely.

• Basic reading skills to verify menu information.
