AWS Cloud Engineer

About the role

The AWS Cloud Engineer will design, implement, automate and support enterprise‑scale cloud solutions on Amazon Web Services. Working on‑site in Johannesburg, you will collaborate with application teams, architects, security specialists and vendors to ensure cloud platforms are secure, scalable and aligned with enterprise standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain AWS infrastructure in line with best practices and organisational standards.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Manage compute, storage, networking and security services across the cloud environment.
• Monitor performance, availability and security, and implement automation to reduce manual effort.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and integrate cloud resources with development and operations workflows.
• Conduct backup, recovery and disaster‑recovery testing to ensure business continuity.
• Ensure compliance with banking and finance regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues promptly.
• Document architecture, configurations and processes, and provide technical guidance on AWS best practices.

Required profile

• Formal qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline (diploma or degree).
• 3‑5 years of experience designing and operating AWS cloud solutions.
• Proven ability to work in complex production environments and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
