AWS Cloud Engineer – Banking & Financial Services

About the role
We are looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to design, implement and maintain secure, scalable cloud solutions for a banking environment. The role focuses on delivering enterprise‑grade infrastructure that complies with PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001 and other financial regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and manage high‑performance AWS environments that meet banking‑grade security and resiliency standards.
- Implement and maintain security controls, monitoring and compliance tooling aligned with financial regulations.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK to automate provisioning.
- Monitor cloud resources with CloudWatch, CloudTrail, GuardDuty and Security Hub, and provide operational support.
- Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers and DBAs to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–8 years of IT experience, including 3–5+ years focused on AWS cloud engineering.
- Strong knowledge of financial industry security standards (PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001, POPIA, GDPR).
- Proven experience with multi‑account AWS Organizations and Service Control Policies.
- Hands‑on Linux/Unix administration and scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell).

- AWS core services: EC2, Lambda, Auto Scaling, S3, EBS, Glacier, VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, Route 53, RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora, IAM, KMS, WAF, Shield, Security Hub.
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK.
- Container technologies: Kubernetes/EKS, Docker.
- Hybrid/cloud migration: VMware Cloud on AWS, Outposts.
- Data lake services: AWS Lake Formation, Glue, Redshift.
- Monitoring & logging: CloudWatch, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Splunk, Datadog, ELK Stack.
- Scripting languages: Bash, Python, PowerShell.
- Networking concepts: firewalls, VPN, DNS, load balancers, private connectivity.
