Avionics Technical Instructor – Training Specialist

About the role

The Avionics Technical Instructor will lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of training programmes for aircraft maintenance personnel. This role ensures that all training aligns with regulatory requirements, company policies and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update training manuals, SOPs, policies and competency‑based assessment materials.
• Stay current with SACAA regulations, directives and industry standards, integrating changes into training delivery.
• Design training programmes, including objectives, examinations, practical evaluations and media.
• Review feedback and implement improvements to training content and delivery methods.
• Facilitate classroom, on‑the‑job and virtual training sessions, preparing rooms and equipment.
• Assess trainee performance, provide coaching and maintain accurate training records.
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies, advisory committees and suppliers to ensure compliance.
• Support audit preparation and address any deficiencies in training processes.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent; valid AME Instructor licence and current SACAA instructor & assessor certification.
• Successful completion of Train‑the‑Trainer, Assessor, Moderator and Coaching & Mentoring certifications.
• Diploma or degree in Engineering or related field (advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience in a mid‑size organisation.
• Willingness to travel and strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
• High integrity, professional conduct and adaptability.
