About the role
The University of Pretoria invites applications for a senior academic leader to serve as Associate Professor/Professor and Head of the Department of Marketing Management. This term appointment combines a full‑time professorial role with the strategic and operational leadership of the department.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic, academic and operational management of the Department of Marketing Management.
- Align departmental vision with the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences and the University’s broader objectives.
- Plan, organise and promote academic and research programmes, enhancing the department’s research profile.
- Ensure high‑quality scholarly education and professional training.
- Oversee financial activities, including budgeting, fundraising and externally funded projects.
- Represent the discipline at national and international levels as an academic leader.
- Recruit, manage and develop academic and professional staff, fostering diversity.
- Market and grow the department, develop external partnerships and mentor junior academics.
- Ensure compliance with university policies and governance structures.
Required profile
- Doctoral degree with a specialisation relevant to marketing management.
- Proven academic stature and record of research and teaching excellence.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in higher education or research environments.
