Assistant F&B Outlet Manager

About the role

Mount Nelson Hotel, part of Belmond, is looking for an Assistant F&B Outlet Manager in Cape Town. The role creates exceptional dining experiences through attentive service, deep product knowledge and a warm, approachable demeanour, helping shape unforgettable culinary moments within the Mount Nelson Hotel standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure high standards of hospitality and comfort across all food and beverage service, in line with Belmond values and Mount Nelson standards.
• Assist in managing F&B outlets and supervise, coordinate and direct prompt, cordial and efficient service.
• Implement systems and procedures that improve cost efficiency and guest satisfaction.
• Help with reporting deadlines, payroll and rosters, and assist with staff rostering to match business levels.
• Conduct daily briefings and monitor guest complaints, compliments and suggestions.
• Monitor and control operating equipment, standards, inventories, food and beverage costs and variances, and manage expiry dates.
• Coordinate communication between front of house and back of house, and inspect food preparation and presentation regularly.
• Manage and update the On-Track system daily, keep storage areas neat and clean, and take part in monthly stock-takes.
• Report maintenance and repair issues and help implement formal training plans with on-the-job sessions.

Required profile

• 3-5 years of F&B supervisory management experience in a luxury hotel environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of general restaurant operations.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale computers and software.
• Advantageous: knowledge of silverware, basic food cost, employee scheduling and payroll.
