Assistant Controller – Broking (Logistics)

About the role

The Assistant Controller – Broking supports the logistics team in managing client and carrier relationships, coordinating loading and delivery schedules, and ensuring timely, compliant deliveries across the network.

Key responsibilities

• Secure transporters for all scheduled loads and match loads with available transporters.
• Provide loading instructions to transporters at least one day before loading.
• Follow up on previous‑day loading to ensure vehicles arrive on time.
• Monitor daily loading activities and report any delays, including breakdowns, to customers.
• Create and allocate trips in the Transport Management System (TMS) for every load.
• Track and follow up on outstanding Proof of Delivery (POD) documents.
• Assist with weekly and monthly flash reporting.

Required profile

• Matriculation plus a relevant logistics qualification.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Reliable personal transport for commuting.
• Willingness to work night shifts, weekends and public holidays as needed.
• Ability to operate under pressure with limited supervision.
• Experience in a similar logistics environment is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Access.
• Experience using a Transport Management System (TMS).
• Broking proficiency and good email etiquette.
