Assistant Artisan

About the role

The Assistant Artisan supports the maintenance team to ensure equipment and plant operate efficiently within a production environment. This role is ideal for individuals with a basic technical background who are eager to develop their skills in a fast‑paced FMCG setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the maintenance team in maintaining overall equipment effectiveness and plant reliability.
• Perform routine inspections, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance tasks on mechanical and electrical assets.
• Support troubleshooting activities to minimise downtime.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations on site.
• Document maintenance activities and report any issues to senior technicians.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• Minimum N3 Mechanical or Electrical studies (advantageous).
• At least 1 year of experience in a production plant, preferably within FMCG.

Required skills

• Mechanical maintenance knowledge.
• Electrical maintenance knowledge.
• Understanding of OHS legislation.
• Basic engineering principles.
