Application Developer (.NET / C# / SQL Server) – Cape Town

About the role

Our client, a global life insurance office, is looking for an experienced Application Developer to join the Customer team in Cape Town. The role involves full‑stack development of business‑critical applications using modern Microsoft technologies, supporting users across multiple continents. You will work in a hybrid setting, collaborating with stakeholders in South Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, the UK, Canada and the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance applications using .NET, C# and SQL Server.
• Manage the full software development lifecycle from analysis to deployment and support.
• Write and optimise complex T‑SQL queries, stored procedures, views and other database objects.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions together with analysts and project managers.
• Implement and support integrations between multiple business systems.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning and task tracking.
• Use Azure DevOps for source control, build automation and deployment pipelines.
• Diagnose and resolve application and database issues, perform code reviews and enforce standards.
• Provide production support and implement enhancements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and tools.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of professional software development experience.
• Proven experience building applications with .NET and C#.
• Strong background in Microsoft SQL Server and advanced T‑SQL development.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure DevOps or similar Microsoft DevOps tools.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• South African citizenship, permanent residency or valid work authorization.
