Air Import Controller – Cape Town

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Air Import Controller to manage air import shipments and cross‑trade movements for our Cape Town office. The role focuses on coordinating with clients, carriers and internal teams to ensure smooth cargo flow.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end air import shipments and cross‑trade movements.
• Proactively communicate with clients regarding shipment status, delays, and solutions.
• Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, agents, and internal departments to ensure smooth cargo movement.
• Track and monitor shipments from collection through to final delivery.
• Resolve client queries, shipment exceptions, and operational challenges efficiently.
• Monitor and manage customer KPIs and service performance.
• Support pricing, invoicing, and cost control processes.
• Assist with implementation and onboarding of new accounts.
• Provide after‑hours support for urgent or critical shipments when required.
• Maintain accurate records and administration within the company operating systems.

Required profile

• 3–5 years experience as an Air Import Controller within a freight forwarding environment.
• Strong understanding of international airfreight import processes.
• Experience dealing directly with clients, airlines, agents, and service providers.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong administrative and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Sound commercial awareness and understanding of shipment profitability.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Preferred background in freight forwarding and logistics industry.
• Exposure to international import operations and cross‑trade shipments.
• Experience managing key accounts and customer service KPIs.
