Accountant – Sage 200 & Payroll Specialist

About the role
We are seeking a qualified Accountant to join our fast‑paced team in Pietermaritzburg. The successful candidate will handle a full spectrum of accounting, payroll and tax compliance tasks while supporting HR and general finance operations.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare cash books, bank reconciliations and process debtor and creditor transactions.
- Run monthly payroll and submit statutory filings (PAYE, UIF, Pension Fund, Medical Aid, COIDA).
- Draft employment offers, contracts, onboarding documentation and payroll reports.
- Post monthly journals, perform reconciliations, update asset registers and calculate depreciation.
- Review debtors, creditors, stock reports and sales commission schedules.
- Prepare VAT returns, provisional tax calculations, IRP5 reconciliations and CIPC annual returns.
- Respond to general accounting, payroll, HR and compliance queries.
Required profile
- Relevant Accounting or Finance degree.
- Completed articles.
- Strong experience in accounting, payroll and tax administration.
Required skills
- Sage 200 Evolution.
- Sage Premier Payroll.
- SARS e‑Filing.
