Accountant

About the role

This role covers the accounting function and provides financial information and support to other parts of the business so they can optimise and improve efficiency. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts
• Assist the Financial Manager in preparing budgets and forecasts
• Take full responsibility for the general ledger through to the trial balance
• Analyse variances, spot trends and help improve company performance
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly cash forecasts
• Liaise with department managers on variance analysis
• Load, authorise and approve bank payments
• Compile sales by product and user analysis and ad-hoc reports
• Carry out monthly reconciliations of balance sheet line items
• Manage the audit process with the external auditor
• Payroll management and administration

Required profile

• BCom/BAcc in Finance/Accounting
• SAICA/SAIPA/CIMA membership or completed article clerkship
• Experience in the tech or hosting environment is an advantage

Required skills

• Working experience with banking platforms
• ERP systems: Xero, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage Online, QuickBooks
• Advanced Excel
• Basic understanding of API, AI and SQL
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and analytical skills
• Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and protect personal information (POPIA)
