Accountant

About the role

The Accountant will join the finance team at ENGIE Southern Africa, supporting the Senior Financial Accountant in day‑to‑day financial operations for the Xina Solar One CSP plant. The role is based on‑site in Bryanston, Sandton, Johannesburg.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain master data on Sunflow and Sun ERP systems, including chart of accounts, currency, document types and vendor setup.
• Execute full creditors control, reconciliations and payment submissions.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable queries, prepare customer invoices and statements, and support collections.
• Process cashbooks, perform monthly bank reconciliations and manage banking KPI tasks such as KYC updates.
• Manage forex transactions and obtain required FSCA/SARB approvals.
• Prepare and post journal entries, assist with fixed‑asset calculations, decommission provisions and impairments.
• Track monthly accruals, stock balances and inter‑company transactions.
• Ensure timely period‑end close, produce balance‑sheet reconciliations and uphold IFRS and ENGIE accounting policies.
• Support audit requests, maintain filing standards and contribute to SOP documentation.

Required profile

• Experience with ERP systems, specifically Sunflow and Sun.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and ENGIE‑adopted accounting policies.
• Ability to manage master data, perform reconciliations and handle forex approvals.
• Attention to detail for period‑end close and audit support.
