Accountant – Hospitality Industry (George)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced accountant to support the financial operations of a hospitality client in George. The role will manage accounting functions, reporting and liaise with banks, auditors and tax authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition.
• Coordinate budget preparation, financial forecasts and variance reporting.
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and regulatory reports.
• Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close processes and maintain quality control over financial transactions.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a hotel environment with at least 3 years of combined accounting and finance experience.
• Advanced degree in Accounting is beneficial.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement preparation and month‑end/year‑end close processes.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency with accounting software and property management systems such as Opera, Scala, Pastel, SAP, VIP and APEX.
