Accountant – Group Finance – Africa ex-SA

About the role

The role is responsible for the full accounting function of an entity within the Africa ex‑SA team, from cash‑book entries to the preparation of financial statements and regulatory reporting. You will work closely with management and regulators to ensure accurate and timely financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare cash‑book entries, payments and review fee income receipts.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, including credit‑card journals.
• Manage the full accounts‑payable cycle: process purchase invoices, obtain approvals, create payment batches and execute payments.
• Perform banking administration – beneficiary maintenance, profile management, user access controls and liaison with banks.
• Monitor bank accounts, reconcile statements, resolve payment queries and support cash‑flow planning.
• Produce management information for group consolidated reporting, monthly AFS, income statements and capital adequacy monitoring.
• Handle quarterly and annual regulatory reporting, including tax returns for Namibia and Botswana.
• Prepare financial reports for board meetings.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect and correct errors quickly.
• Comfortable working independently and seeing tasks through to completion.
• Ability to follow rules and procedures rigorously.
• Team‑oriented, energetic and able to thrive in a demanding environment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (BCom, BAccSc, BCompt or equivalent).
• 2‑4 years of post‑qualification experience, preferably in financial services.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel – intermediate to advanced proficiency.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central accounting system (highly preferred).
