Accountant – Financial Reporting & Compliance

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to join Eventspec (Pty) Ltd. The successful candidate will manage our financial records, prepare key reports, and ensure compliance with South African accounting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Process and maintain accurate financial transactions and records.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and comprehensive financial reports.
• Reconcile bank accounts, debtors, creditors and general ledger entries.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory filings.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants and external stakeholders as required.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and internal controls.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in an accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and South African tax/VAT legislation.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and meet multiple deadlines.
