Accountant / Financial Manager – Stellenbosch

About the role

Our client, a property‑focused company in the Cape Winelands, is seeking an Accountant or Financial Manager to lead the full accounting cycle for several special‑purpose vehicles (SPVs). The role is based in Stellenbosch and offers the opportunity to manage end‑to‑end bookkeeping, tax compliance and financial reporting for a dynamic real‑estate portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Perform end‑to‑end accounting and bookkeeping using SAGE.
• Maintain full financial responsibility for multiple property SPVs, including trial balances and month‑end close.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and liaise with SARS as required.
• Calculate income tax, complete returns, assessments and manage all e‑filing requirements.
• Process cashbook entries, payments and reconcile bank statements.
• Integrate property management reports into the SPV financial statements.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience performing the complete accounting cycle.
• Relevant qualification – a finance diploma is acceptable.
• Strong understanding of South African tax legislation and SPV accounting.
• Detail‑oriented with the ability to work independently.

Required skills

• SAGE accounting software.
