About the role
The municipality is seeking an experienced Accountant to lead its Credit Control and Indigent Management functions. The role involves overseeing debt recovery, ensuring compliance with the Indigent Policy, and supporting the Finance Manager with strategic initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and control the credit control function, monitoring and analysing the debtors’ book.
- Implement the Indigent Policy effectively and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Develop and execute strategies to reduce outstanding debt.
- Prepare monthly reports on the debtors’ book and present findings to management.
- Supervise staff within the credit control section.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Required profile
- National Diploma in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in credit control and indigent management.
- Knowledge of MFMA and relevant legislation.
- Valid driver’s licence.
Required skills
- Proven computer literacy in MS Office.
- Proficiency with accounting packages.
